The Wisdom Jesus: A Six Day Retreat with Rev. Cynthia

of her new book "The Wisdom Jesus." In this retreat we will allow our practice of Centering Prayer to lead us deeper into the teachings of Jesus himself and the remarkable unitive wisdom at their core. There will be periods of Centering Prayer and common, silence and solitude in
community.

"Advanced" Wisdom School: Will build on the foundations laid in our Introductory Hudson Valley Wisdom schools in 2007 and 2009. Our work will continue to be anchored in the daily practice of Centering Prayer and in the Benedictine rhythm of contemplative prayer, sacred chanting and psalmody, and conscious work. Thematically, our work during these three five-day seminar retreats
will focus on the fourteenth century mystical classic, The Cloud of Unknowing viewed as a wisdom text for the “work” of conscious transformation. We will also continue our exploration of “the divine exchange,” particularly as it plays out in the Christian sacred mysteries of Incarnation, the Paschal Mystery, and the Eucharist. Building on this same theme, we will explore several spiritual practices of exchange, including conscious breathing, the Jesus prayer, turning prayer, and tonglen. We will also embark on a much more intense immersion in the Welcoming Prayer, understood as a powerfully transformative “witnessing” practice.
Requirements: A stable centering prayer practice and ability to participate in all three seminars.
